Wanted: Innovative Ideas to “Fix the Future”

Who is going to fix the world? Working in partnership with the Austrian Foreign Ministry and its network of diplomatic representations, Austrian radio station Ö1 is starting a global campaign to foster new ideas.

Together with  the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Ö1 is looking for innovative ideas and concepts (including projects that have already been completed) designed to address global problems, on a large scale or in their smallest details. Ideas may range from the fields of technology, the environment, health, nutrition, culture, economics, social welfare, or any other area that influences society.

The COVID-19 pandemic has proved once again that we are all connected across national boundaries, and that we depend on each other, wherever we live in our global village. With this in mind, a willingness to look beyond Austria’s borders is essential, as are global dialogue and an ability to link ideas together.

Since January 2020, culture-focused radio station Ö1 has been providing a media platform for innovative Austrian ideas with the potential to shape the society of the future. Projects will be considered by a panel of judges, who will decide which of them will receive support and mentoring and benefit from a broader platform.

Austria’s Foreign Ministry, and in particular its network of diplomatic representations, can act as an important hub for the campaign.  Its international network allows Austrian representatives around the world to identify suitable projects and play a key role in bringing innovators together, both in Austria and further away. This networking activity is also intended to strengthen Austria’s position as a leading centre for creativity and innovation

Proposals should be in the form of short texts or videos. They can be submitted online in German and/or English.
