Speaking in the Albanian parliament, The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, said that the IPA 2020 Program, within the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance IPA II, will play an important role in advancing the modernization and Europeanization process of the country.
“It is a program that consists of 7 areas, such as democracy and governance, the rule of law and fundamental rights but also from competitiveness, innovation, agriculture or rural development. The program offers a significant support for these sectors, in the amount of 105 million 421 thousand 991 €, out of which the maximum contribution comes from the European Union in 103 million € “, said Minister Xhaçka.
She emphasized 3 elements as the most important aspects of the IPA 2020 Package:
– Support for Justice reform, which enables the International Monitoring Operation to fulfill its constitutional mandate in the vetting process;
– The contribution in overcoming the Covid-19 consequences;
– Greater access of Municipalities to this package.
By concluding her speech, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs requested from the parliament to approve this agreement, as a necessary financial support that strengthens cooperation and integration between our country and the EU.
