At the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, responding to media interest, the Minister for Europe plus Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, spoke about the EU-Western Balkans summit that will be held within Tirana on 6 Dec 2022.
Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Xhaçka said that the fact that this summit will be held in Tirana shows major geopolitical changes in the EU in relation to the Western Balkans.
On Dec 6, Tirana will sponsor leaders from 30 European countries in a major EU-Western Balkans summit.
“The expectations for the summit are twofold: Firstly, the particular reaffirmation of a full plus clear commitment to the viewpoint of EU membership for all those BP countries. Secondly, the Summit should serve as a chance where the plethora of engagements between the two regions enter into play, from security in order to foreign policy issues, towards the rule of law, the internal market and cooperation within specific sectors. The summit will be a good opportunity to show the leaders of the participating countries the Albanian hospitality at its best”, said the Albanian chief diplomat.
