Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Korean Deputy Foreign Minister

KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with the Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Ham Sang Wook, this afternoon.

Expressing gratitude to the generous assistance of Korea in political, economic, educational, and cultural arenas over the last two decades, Minister Atmar noted that the continuation of those assistance were of vital significance to preserve common values and hard-won gains of the last twenty years, following the withdrawal of the Resolute Support forces from Afghanistan.

Highlighting the importance of the first political consultations meeting between the two countries, Minister Atmar and the Korean Deputy Foreign Minister exchanged views on the follow-up of the pledged actions in the meeting.

The Korean Deputy Minister assured Minister Atmar of Korea’s support to the Afghan Peace Process and ensuring lasting peace in Afghanistan, while upholding the human rights gains over the last two decades.

Minister Atmar and the Korean Deputy Foreign Minister also discussed ways to further cooperate and coordinate efforts in the United Nations and other international organizations.
