Foreign Minister Meets Norwegian Embassy Charge d’ Affaires

KABUL – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with the Chargé d’ Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy in Kabul Carsten Carlsen to discuss provision of legal facilitation for the continuation of Norwegian cooperation with Afghanistan and the expansion of bilateral relations.

Mr. Carlsen spoke about the continuation of Norway’s support and cooperation within the framework of Afghanistan’s new chapter of cooperation and assured Minister Atmar of the continuation of Norwegian support to Afghanistan in preserving the achievements of the last twenty years and the success of the Afghan Peace Process. The Charge d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy presented to Minister Atmar the written remarks of the Norwegian Foreign Minister regarding the presence and functioning of the Norwegian Military Hospital at the Hamid Karzai International Airport and called for legal facilitation to continue the hospital’s services in Afghanistan.

Minister Atmar expressed his appreciation for Norway’s support and cooperation with Afghanistan over the last 20 years and called for the continuation of Norwegian cooperation with Kabul to maintain common achievements.

Referring to the security agreement between Afghanistan and NATO, Minister Atmar underscored the commitment of the Afghan Government to provide necessary legal facilitation to continue the international community’s collaboration, particularly the cooperation of Norway with Afghanistan in different areas.
