Foreign Minister Leaves for Moscow

KABUL – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, will arrive in Moscow on Wednesday evening at the official invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov heading a high-level delegation as part of a three-day visit to the Russian Federation.

The purpose of the visit is to expand bilateral relations, strengthen regional and international consensus on the Afghan peace process, and to increase cooperation in the joint fight against terrorism and organized crime in the region.

During his visit to Moscow, Mr. Atmar is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and a number of high-ranking Russian government officials.
