Deputy Foreign Minister Speaks with German Special Representative for Afghanistan

KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab discussed in a telephone conversation with the German Special Representative for Afghanistan Mr. Marcus Potzel, the process of peace talks and significance of continued German aids and support to Afghanistan.

Commending Germany’s technical and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Mr. Nab said that Germany’s continued support for justified position of the Afghan government and the rightful call of the Afghan people to end the war and bloodshed in the country was vital for establishment of a sustainable and just peace in Afghanistan.

Deputy Minister Nab also spoke about convening the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process, to be held in Tajikistan in late March, and stressed the continuation of German support for the process.

Mr. Putzel emphasized need for a lasting and just peace, which would preserve the achievements of the past 20 years in Afghanistan, and expressed his country’s readiness to continue to support people and the government of Afghanistan for success of the peace talks.

Both sides wished for success of the peace talks and also discussed the implementation of agenda for the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process Ministerial Meeting.
