UN working to reduce tensions following Israel minister’s holy web site visit

Haram Al-Sharif is located in filled East Jerusalem, which is a fundamental element of the Occupied Palestinian Place, Mr. Mansour told the Council. Mr. Erdan mentioned the visit was in range with the status quo, and those whom claim otherwise are only inflaming the situation.   “With that reality in your mind, I reiterate the Secretary General’s call for all events to avoid steps that could escalate stress in and around the Holy Sites , and for all in order to uphold the status quo , in line with the special function of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. ”  “Israel has no state and no right to sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which includes East Jerusalem, and therefore no rightful claim over Al-Haram Al-Sharif, ” he stated.   “I figured that if this important body is conference to discuss such a trivial matter, then we clearly accomplished world peace overnight, ” he remarked.   “After all, why else would certainly this Council dedicate the time to such a menial happening? ”  Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan said he was “overjoyed” to understand the Council had convened an emergency session on the Minister’s “quiet, orderly and unadventurous visit” to Temple Install.

Mr. Khiari said the UN provides remained in close connection with relevant parties to de-escalate the situation, and this engagement may continue.  

Improving an ‘extremist agenda’: Palestine

Khiari.   “Time and again, the mosques are used as arsenals, exactly where tourists keep rocks plus explosives to attack Judaism visitors and security forces”, he added. “The hallowed ground is used as a system for Palestinian incitement, poisoning the minds of youngsters and stoking the flames of violence. ”  Palestinian representative Riyad Mansour insisted that the Israeli Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) did not go to the holy web site just to visit.

‘A trivial matter’: Israel 

Instead, Mr. Ben-Gvir “is going after the same extremist agenda he has pursued all his living – ending the historic status quo, ” he stated, adding “that is his objective regardless of the consequences. Exactly the same agenda he was elected on and joined the particular Israeli government to advance. ”  “As we have seen numerous times in the past, the situation at Jerusalem’s Ay Sites is deeply vulnerable, and any incident or even tension there can spill over and trigger violence through the entire Occupied Palestinian Territory, within Israel, and elsewhere in the region, ” he said.   UN Photo/Manuel Elías Mr. Mansour was adamant that there can be no peacefulness without Jerusalem.   This noticeable the first time since 2017 that the Israeli Minister has visited the site, known by Jews as Temple Mount through Muslims as Haram al-Sharif, and which is administered by Jordan.   Upon Monday, Israel’s new Nationwide Security Minister, far-right party leader Itamar Ben-Gvir, frequented the hilltop compound in Jerusalem’s old city which is sacred to both Jews and Muslims.   He was reportedly accompanied by a large security detail.
