Secretary-General Recalls Importance of Upholding Due Process in Bolivia Following Legal Action against Former Government Officials, Authorities

The following statement was issued today by the Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres:

In relation to recent legal action taken against former government officials and authorities in Bolivia, the Secretary-General recalls the importance of upholding due process guarantees and full transparency in all legal proceedings.

The Secretary-General also recalls the important steps taken by all Bolivian actors towards the consolidation of peace and reiterates the United Nations commitment to support these efforts, including through the facilitation of political dialogue and the promotion of human rights.
