Reimagine the Next Normal: staff sounds design United Nations 2 . 0

Ensuring everyone has access to disciplined information is a critical captar as we move toward the particular ‘Next Normal’. Furthermore, by just equipping all staff together with the tools they need and working on inclusion, we build far more relationships and bolster have confidence.     Inspired by the Reimagine the UN Together Dialogues and the UNHQ Next Normal Dialogues, the particular Reimagine the Next Normal Dialogues focused on four themes associated with our post-pandemic workplace tradition:   Strengthening staff voices creates ripple effects, inviting more energetic participation to co-create the particular vision for the ‘Culture of the Next Normal that We Want’ and to support the trip to “UN 2 . 0” as laid out in Our Common Plan .     A number of these staff ideas have been recommended for implementation, including institutionalizing the dialogue mechanism on their own. This will ensure the Organization offers an ongoing way for staff for you to contribute more directly to improve and changes proposed later on.

  • Agile Teams which encourages most teams to cultivate a good agile mindset to be more adaptive and versatile.
  • Digital Literacy & Tools which encourages knowledge on technology plus ongoing digital transformation to help personnel feel at ease with revolutionary tools and develop electronic literacy.
  • Hybrid Teams which shows the importance for organizations to help staff and managers create skills and competencies to better adapt to hybrid work configurations.
  • Increasing Innovation which underlines the essentiality of sprouting brand new ideas through participation within innovation-related events and programs.

Not only does the dialogue mechanism offer a safe room for the global exchange about ideas, it also makes possible the exact sharing of feedback and insights with senior management, human resources, and other fora, assisting to ensure staff voices really are heard and valued.     The primary objective of a series of dialogues led by the global #NewWork group was to provide personnel along with opportunities to envision the ‘Next Normal’ at the UN. The ‘Reimagine the Next Normal Dialogues’ aimed to facilitate the exchange of ideas across the UN, driving organizational tradition change from the bottom up.     The dialogues brought together more than 180 colleagues from 52 duty stations. Over 25 volunteers in the field, Bangkok, New York, and Geneva, moderated 26 classes held (as at day of publication). Broad diversity in each session was achieved through the use of a ‘randomising’ tool developed by a colleague in peacekeeping.     The initiative had been recognized by the Career Development Roundtable (CDR)1 held within Milan in December 2021 having an award in the Staff Wedding category. The award appreciates the successes and breakthrough #NewWork has achieved within uniting staff, breaking down silos, and working towards organizational culture change.   #NewWork might continue to harness the power of communautaire intelligence to address challenges as well as develop an agile, revolutionary and inclusive workplace traditions.   While the ‘Next Normal’ dialogues captured staff sounds and creative ideas, it also presented the information asymmetry within the operation. Today, many staff are unaware of existing guides and resources that are available to support them through times of transition.     A previous round for dialogues that focused on planning and preparing for the ‘Next Normal’ at UNHQ designed a series of ideas in 12 workstreams, which fed right into a report on recommendations for your next Normal that went to the particular Secretary-General.
