Minister Todd receives credentials from new UN Resident Coordinator



The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today received credentials from Mrs. Yeşim Oruç-Kaya, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guyana.

Minister Todd welcomed the new UN Resident Coordinator and posited that her arrival comes at a time when Guyana is at a critical juncture in its development trajectory. Further, he added that the Government of Guyana under the leadership of His Excellency, President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, is committed to good governance, transparency and accountability.

The officials also discussed the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals and Minister Todd took the opportunity to highlight that Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) is testament to government’s commitment towards sustainable development. Minister Todd further reiterated Government’s support for multilateralism and welcomed the renewed assurance of the United Nations Resident Coordinator towards advancing Guyana’s developmental priorities.

Mrs. Oruç-Kaya brings to the portfolio over two decades of experience in the United Nations System and most recently served within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Washington D.C.
