Fulfilling the UN dreams of Kale, a teenager battling cancer

Improving the odds of recovery

Creating a day to remember

When the UN received the demand from the Foundation, they attempted to put together a bespoke programme to ensure his visit will be memorable. “You have to be open-minded because a lots of time you have to work plus negotiate with countries that have different goals, different visions than ours, ” explained Ms. Dime-Labille. Our ultimate goal is to create a tranquil world, the goal that this countries had when they produced the United Nations”. “In the last two reports the tumour shrunk, and Kale provides regained some eyesight in the right eye, says his father. “Hopefully, next month we will get more positive results”. “Just do your best to be better, ” he says, “because whenever you’re better, you can assist others be better, and it’s simply going to be a positive chain reaction. Be helpful and be type. That’s my message”. Rula Hinedi admits that the girl was moved by the connection with meeting Kale and his family. “It really touched me. It humbled me a lot”, she says. I think that the request from a 16-year-old youngster to visit the United Nations is a strong message to all of us that the work that goes on here is still relevant, specifically for the new generation. Things aren’t always easy, but the globe is surely a better place because of the UN”.

High-level profession advice

The oldest of two young boys, Kale, whose parents are both history teachers, has an fascination with foreign and international relationships, and dreams of becoming a diplomat. “The UN is one of the biggest forces for international relationships on the planet Earth, ” he or she told UN News. “It interests me a lot. Plus since the headquarters is here in New York, a city which i also want to visit, I figured it would be a really great place to experience”. “To make it just about all worthwhile, we decided to arrange not only a guided tour but additionally give Kale the opportunity to satisfy high level staff members and diplomats, ” explains Rula Hinedi, Chief of the Guided excursions Unit at the United Nations. Your day starts early with a led tour. “It was awesome, I am in awe”, says Kale, smiling. “I actually liked the General Assembly. I was able to stand at the podium and it was cool in the same place as excellent people before me. That was very powerful”. In the Security Council consultation room, Kale met Officer Richard Norowski. Kale’s visit, and his Make-a-Wish badge, brought back emotional memories just for Officer Norowski, who followed his sister on a Make-a-Wish trip to Disneyland, when has been seven years old. “My sister had leukaemia. I will never forget that, and the badge means a lot to me”. “The United Nations is important for me to visit because of the integral work that is done there, from humanitarian missions in order to peacekeeping efforts all in the hopes of making the world a much better place, ” Kale wrote in the wish he sent to the Foundation. “That is why I think it would be important to see the place so I could better understand the work that goes on there, and how these decisions are made”.

A year ago, Kale, who lives in California, began to have blurred vision in the right eye. After consuming medical tests, his family obtained the devastating news that he had a tumour located in his right optic nerve.

Kale is hopeful that he can beat cancer.

‘Do your very best to be better’

“Follow ideal no matter what”, said Mister. Nasser, “and the superstars will align to make your dream come true”, adding which he hoping to see Kale within the corridors of the UN in a few years. Kale great family are full of hope for the near future. “We have about six to 12 months to go before we hit what they the maintenance program”, says his mother, Robin. Reflecting on the journey, Kale says that studying the good that the UN does around the world, has inspired your pet to work in the service of others. [embedded content]
