Presentation: Criminal gang activity plus human rights violations always threaten the peace and stability of Haiti: UK statement at UN Safety Council

We also recognise the role of targetted sanctions in this regard. Following the organization of the Sanctions Committee, we stand ready to consider additional designations against those involved with criminal gang activity and the human rights violations that continue to threaten the peacefulness, stability and security of Haiti. However , sanctions by itself do not offer a solution. Now is the time for Haitians to come with each other to find a solution to the politics impasse: one that tackles the particular deep rooted economic, humanitarian education and security challenges blighting the daily lives of the Haitian people. The UK  welcomes recent moves toward a broader dialogue and efforts to reach a general opinion. We renew our demand all actors to partake in political dialogue and to come together to identify and implement the consensus route towards democratic elections. Thank you.
