Barbados Appoints Non-Resident High Commissioner to Belize

Barbados’ non-resident High Commissioner to Belize, H.E. David Comissiong, presented his letter of credence to Governor General H.E. Dame Froyla Tzalam, on 6 September 2022 at the Belize House in Belmopan.Noting the leading roles of Barbados and Belize within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Minister Courtenay commended Barbados’ recent hosting of the Africaribbean Trade Investment Forum.H.E. (MFAFT)The Governor General graciously accepted the letters of credence and they both expressed on the behalf of their respective countries the desire for the strengthening of diplomatic ties.Mr. Comissiong also presented his Copie d’Usage to the Honourable Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration.In turn High Commissioner Comissiong remarked that Barbados values its relationship with Belize. He said there is a need for robust political engagement within CARICOM. He opined that the emerging relationship between the Caribbean and Africa is promising.Author: Government of BarbadosThe Belizean Foreign Minister noted that Barbados and Belize cooperate closely and an excellent relationship exists between Prime Minister John Briceño and Prime Minister Mottley. To this end, he proposed the two countries sign a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen political cooperation.
