Visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to United Kingdom, 8 July 2020

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited the United Kingdom on 8 July 2020.

Minister Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with Jeffrey Donaldson, the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Turkey in the United Kingdom Parliament.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we wished to further develop our relations and preserve the acquired rights of our citizens after Brexit, and emphasized that inter-parliamentary relations strengthen our cooperation.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu had a meeting with his counterpart Dominic Raab.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we had strong solidarity during the pandemic and that we would improve our cooperation in every field in the new normal period.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that we were ready to host our British guests in a healthy and safe environment and thanks to the Consulate General to be opened in Manchester we would further develop our economic relations.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also held a meeting on the same day with Wendy Morton, the Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas.

Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom.

Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed the best wishes of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that we were pleased with the decision of the United Kingdom of quarantine exemption for Turkey and that we wished to conclude the Free Trade Agreement and develop our economic and trade relations.
