The visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to New York for the 74th session of the UN General Assembly continues.
On 23 September 2019 in the first day of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew Alene of Ethiopia, Foreign Minister Stef Blok of Holland, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg of Austria and Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod of Denmark.
On the same day, in his speech at the Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on the Aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Minister Çavuşoğlu condemned once again Armenia’s unlawful attitude.
Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined the importance of the Contact Group to show support to Azerbaijan in their just cause.
Minister Çavuşoğlu continued his contacts in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly with exchange of views with Foreign Minister Simon Conveney of Ireland, Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum of Algeria and Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar of India.
Later that day Minister Çavuşoğlu participated in the Meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Muslims in Europe, established upon suggestion of President Erdoğan.
In his speech at the meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that we should fight all together against problems such as xenophobia and Islamophobia faced by the Muslim community in Europe.
At the side event of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly hosted by Turkey, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that private sector serving the Sustainable Development Goals should be encouraged.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that our project in this framework enabled focusing on the real needs of the refugees.
Later, Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita of Morocco, Foreign Minister Esma Muhammed Abdullah of Sudan and Foreign Minister Suzi Carla Barbosa of Guinea Bissau.
At the meetings bilateral relations were discussed.
Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with President Mustafa Akıncı of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
A day before, Minister Çavuşoğlu had also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay of TRNC.
