Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Indonesia on 21-22 December 2020 to discuss all aspects of our bilateral relations and also to exchange views on international issues.
In Jakarta Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi of Indonesia on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would increase our cooperation in economy and defense industry, that our goal was to increase our bilateral trade volume up to 10 billion US Dollars, and that a MoU had been signed for the training of the diplomatic personnel.
Later, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Joko Widodo of Indonesia and conveyed him the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that the first meeting of the High Level Strategic Council would be held at our President’s visit next year, and that our relations with our key partner in Southeast Asia, friendly and brotherly Indonesia were developing in all fields.
Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu held another productive meeting with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia.
Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Minister Subianto visited Turkey five times during this last year, that we would further enhance our cooperation in defense industry, and that we wished to sign the Defense Cooperation Agreement soon.
