Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Azerbaijan on 6 October 2020 to show the support and solidarity of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation.
Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu had a fruitful meeting in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
Following the meeting, the two Ministers held a joint press conference.
Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Nagorno-Karabakh belonged to Azerbaijan, that the world should stand by those who are right, in this case Azerbaijan, that we would defend the rightful cause of Azerbaijan everywhere, and that we would always stand by Azerbaijan at times of joy and in sorrow, today and forever.
On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and conveyed him the best wishes and support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were one nation with Azerbaijan, that we could also act together as one State if necessary, and that Turkey meant Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan meant Turkey.
