Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with the Ambassadors of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ankara Group on 6 January 2021.
Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Asia was the main continent of the World, that it was the geography where our roots came from, and that Turkey was the country at the most western part of this continent.
Moreover, Minister Çavuşoğlu reminded that upon instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we had announced our Asia Anew initiative in 2019 and that the aim of this initiative was to reconnect with Asia in a stronger way.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also stated that we had joint projects on our agenda with ASEAN in various fields including tourism, science&technology, higher education, disaster response and mine clearance.
