Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Affairs and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell on 6 July 2020.
Following the meeting, a joint press conference was held.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we wanted to improve our relations with the European Union in every field, but that the EU should not uphold political but objective criteria.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that the EU had to be part of the solution and not the problem, should not let our relations be taken hostage by some member States and that in case measures were adopted against us, we would reciprocate.
