TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO RECEIVES DONATION OF COVID-19 VACCINES FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

PORT OF SPAIN: 3rd March 2022

The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, Mr. Bruce Lai, Permanent Secretary (Ag) of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, and Mr. Shante Moore, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America welcomed the arrival of 75,000 doses of WHO-approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines at Piarco International Airport at 8:12 a.m. on 3 March 2022. This shipment is the third tranche of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines received from the Government of the United States of America which brings the total number of vaccines donated by the United States of America to Trinidad and Tobago to 684,570.

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs thanked the Government and People of the United States of America for this generous donation and noted the important roles played by CARPHA and the US Embassy in Port of Spain in facilitating this donation of vaccines to Trinidad and Tobago.

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago continues the acquisition of WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines for the population, and the Ministry of Health will be utilizing these vaccines in its continued national vaccine programme.
