Vitaly Ignatiev Met with Ambassador-at-Large for the Polish Foreign Ministry Artur Dmochowski

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Artur Dmochowski. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Moldova Bartlomiej Zdaniuk, Head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova Claus Neukirch and Coordinator for the Pridnestrovian settlement of the OSCE DP Marek Calka.

Artur Dmohovski informed the Pridnestrovian side about the priorities of the Polish OSCE Chairmanship, stressing Warsaw’s interest in constructive dialogue and de-escalation. He outlined the realistic goals of the Chairmanship that will not offer revolutionary solutions, but aims to manage existing challenges. Through the Polish Chairmanship, he promised objective mediation focused on supporting the population and achieving results in the negotiation process.

The participants of the meeting reviewed the current situation in the discussions at the level of representatives on political issues and the prospects for holding a 5+2 meeting. Vitaly Ignatiev confirmed Pridnestrovie’s commitment to a successful dialogue and tangible results related to improving the situation of the population and economic agents.

At the same time, he noted a negative trend in the negotiation process associated with the failure of the Moldovan side to fulfill its obligations under the Berlin Plus package and the introduction of various restrictions and hybrid forms of pressure on Pridnestrovie. He noted the need for the Moldovan representatives to have the authority and mandate to reach specific agreements, as well as consistency in the approaches of the Republic of Moldova. In his opinion, 5+2 meetings should be held without additional conditions, and this platform should be used for a competitive and compromise-oriented dialogue with international assistance.

The Minister also informed the guest of telecommunications, the use of the bridge in the area of Bychok and Gura-Bicului villages, the need to return illegally detained billets for license plates of Pridnestrovie, difficulties with the delivery of medicines and other relevant topics.
