Political Representatives Held a Meeting

Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian met in the OSCE Mission office in Chisinau in the presence of representatives of mediators and observers.

As part of the communication, the parties exchanged up-to-date information on the situation with refugees from Ukraine arriving in Pridnestrovie and Moldova, their accommodation and conditions of stay in the territories of the parties.

During the meeting, a dialogue was continued regarding the Pridnestrovian cargo unreasonably detained by representatives of the Republic of Moldova, including blanks of Pridnestrovian license plates. The Moldovan side found it difficult to comment on the current status of this problem and promised to provide more complete information at the forthcoming meetings.

Issues related to the import of goods in the current conditions were discussed in detail. In this regard, Pridnestrovie offered the Republic of Moldova to organize sustainable cooperation in terms of cargo delivery in transit in the Republic of Moldova, including medicines, fuel and other goods. The parties agreed to maintain regular contacts and make every effort to prevent delays in the import of essential goods to Pridnestrovie.

Further discussion addressed the operation of the Rybnitsa JSC Moldova Still Works. The Pridnestrovian side urged not to create obstacles to the work of the enterprise, including to the imports of raw materials both from the territory of the Republic of Moldova and abroad.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the activities of expert (working) groups focusing on areas which can provide the ground for the near-term expert meetings. Implementation of the previously reached agreements, primarily within the Berlin Plus package, was separately discussed.

In the course of the dialogue, the Pridnestrovian side particularly stressed the need to resolve all negotiation-related issues solely through the mechanism of political representatives. It was underscored that losing political and diplomatic control over the current agenda is fraught with a critical decline in the effective functioning of the negotiation format and additional tension in bilateral relations.
