On June 24, 2012, Egypt’s election commission announced the official results of the first presidential election in the country since the end of the Mubarak administration. The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) would like to congratulate President-elect Mohamed Morsi and admires the Egyptian people for their determination to bring about democracy. The government hopes that Egypt will continue to make progress and defend its democratic achievements. (E)
