To encourage young people from Taiwan to find creative ways to promote Taiwan on the world stage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has teamed up with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity’s representative organization in Taiwan for the fifth time, in selecting teams from August 27 to December 3 to represent Taiwan as part of the Young Lions film competition at the festival. The results of the selection were announced at Tamkang University on December 8. This year, teams were asked to showcase Taiwan’s efforts in achieving the United Nations sustainable development goals and there was an unprecedented number of entries this year, with 85 teams taking part and over 100 short videos submitted. Three teams picked to represent Taiwan by a jury of experts:

Team name: Wunderman Thompson Taipei
Second prize: ‘Waste Man – Where does a waste of space like me go when I die?’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will award each of the three winning teams in the professional category NT$250,000, to attend the international competition at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France in June of 2020.

This year, we invited Nadya Kirillova, the creative director of Japan’s Dentsu Team B and Carlos Andres Rodriguez and Juan Pablo Garcia, the creative director and general business director of MullenLowe SSP3 to serve on our jury.
