Ministry of Health to launch Continuous Quality Improvement Survey

THE SURVEY WILL LEAD TO IMPROVEMENTS IN SAINT LUCIA’S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

The Department of Health and Wellness in collaboration with Accreditation Canada (AC) and Health Standards Organisation (HSO) under the Health System Strengthening Project, will launch an initiative to develop a system referred to as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in the island’s healthcare sector. As a result, an assessment of the current state of quality will be undertaken within the Saint Lucian healthcare system.

The assessment will initially take the form of a 5-to-10-minute survey in various healthcare facilities. The survey is expected to be conducted during the week of February 23 to 28, 2021. All healthcare facilities are expected to undertake the Quality Improvement Implementation Survey which will be made available via the website, SurveyMonkey.com. The survey is to be completed by a CEO/administrator, a member of a leadership team, a clinical manager, or a front-line staff manager. The survey will be followed by an in-depth quality improvement assessment facilitated by a documentation review and virtual/online interviews.

Eight health care sites will be selected for participation in the in-depth quality improvement assessment. Proposed facilities may include four wellness centres, one polyclinic, three hospitals, and one psychiatric care facility. Participation in the survey will lead to cardinal improvements in the health sector, and will be immeasurably appreciated.
