Press Release on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Nov 29, 2021

73 Years and the plight of the Palestinian people continues, and the dream of the Palestinian state is far from becoming reality.

The World commemorates today, Nov 29, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, while our people are still suffering from the occupation, settlements, blockade, and racist policies.

For dozens of years, the Palestinian people have waited for the promises of the international community to be fulfilled and for the UN resolutions to materialize, but nothing of this has happened.

Today the feelings of despair and disappointment are rampant among the Palestinian people, as settlements still expand and expropriate the Palestinian lands in a stark violation and complete negligence of the International Law.

Under the auspices of the occupation state, settlers assault the Palestinian farmers, burn their homes, and uproot their trees on a daily basis. The occupation state has done nothing to stop them. On the contrary, it has endorsed them and provided them with legal and political cover.

The last visit of the president of the occupation state “Isaac Herzog” to Hebron and his statements at the Cave of Patriarchs are a clear example of the official and government endorsement to the extremist settlers and an obvious representation of the racist and religious discrimination practiced by the occupation state.

At the same time, Gaza still suffers from the strict blockade imposed by the occupation state since 2006. According to UN assessments, Gaza has become an uninhabitable place as poverty, unemployment and lack of food security have reached unprecedented heights.

The people of Gaza even lack drinkable water, while some of them die due to the lack of proper treatment or the denial of their right to travel abroad.

The suffering didn’t stop at this point but aggravated even further after the latest aggression in May, which caused the death of more than 250 people, mostly women and children, and resulted in massive destruction of residential houses and civilian infrastructure.

As UN agencies and the international community commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, dozens of families in Gaza are still homeless, waiting for the reconstruction of their homes.

On this day, the international community is invited to stand up to its responsibilities by exerting pressure on the occupation state to abide by UN resolutions, stop settlements’ expansion, and lift the illegal blockade of Gaza.
