Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on The Expected Provocative March by Settlers

08-06-2021

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows with great concern the calls by extremist settlers, led by the Kahanist “Itamar Ben Gvir”, to organize a provocative march in the Palestinian neighborhoods of Jerusalem and storm Al-Aqsa Mosque on the coming Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Such provocative marches, along with the “Israeli” violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Sheikh Jarrah, ignited on May 10 the latest round of Aggression, which caused the death of more than 250 Palestinians, mostly women, and children, and resulted in severe damage to residential homes and civilian infrastructure.

Indicted Netanyahu and his far-right allies are clearly interested in a renewed flare-up to foil the attempts to form a new government in the occupation state, even if this leads to a devastating religious war.

Thankfully, the efforts of the international community and regional mediators have put an end to the barbaric “Israeli” aggression last month; however, these efforts weren’t successful at saving hundreds of the victims despite our repeated warnings about the dangerous consequences of the settlers’ provocations.

Therefore, we call the international community to act preemptively this time and exert pressure on the occupation state to prevent such provocative settler marches, end the continuous assaults on the residents of Jerusalem and Sheikh Jarrah, and stop Netanyahu’s attempts to use the blood of our people in internal political disputes.

We also demand the international community to speed up the reconstruction process and exert pressure on the occupation to lift the siege, open crossings and allow medical equipment and humanitarian aid into Gaza.
