Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) and President of the Republic of Cuba, on April 19.
The message reads as follows:
I send my warmest congratulations and fervent comradely greetings to you on successful holding of the 8th Congress of the CPC and your election as First Secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
You assumed heavy responsibility as First Secretary of the CPC Central Committee at a crucial and historic time when the revolutionary cause of Cuba pioneered and advanced by the respected Comrades Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz is being carried forward generation after generation. This is an expression of absolute support to, deep trust in and high expectations of you by all of your Party members and Cuban people.
This also provides a sure guarantee for the Cuban revolution to vigorously advance along the road of independence, justice and socialism, true to the idea and intention of the preceding leaders, and for the Cuban people to continue to make a steady and dynamic advance toward the future of socialism, full of confidence and optimism.
I am sincerely pleased with it.
I express my firm belief that the fraternal Cuban people would firmly defend the gains of revolution and surely build an independent and prospering socialist state by waging an all-out drive for implementing the decisions of the CPC Congress, firmly united around the CPC Central Committee headed by you, respected First Secretary.
The relations between our two Parties and two countries, formed on the basis of deep personal relations and comradeship between President Kim Il Sung and Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz, the great leaders of the peoples of the two countries, have grown stronger and closer in the course of weathering all tempests of history and developed further into special comradely and strategic relations century after century and generation after generation.
I reaffirm my will to further expand and develop the traditional friendship and unity and comradely cooperative ties between our two Parties and two countries on the road of the struggle for carrying out the common cause holding aloft the banner of socialism, as agreed with you, respected First Secretary, during the meeting in Pyongyang in November 2018.
I sincerely wish you, respected First Secretary, big success in your important and responsible work to lead the CPC and the Cuban people.
