Myanmar Delegation Attends the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Special Meeting (2/2022) and its related Meetings(24-11-2022)

At the 10th Anniversary of AHRD, the event reviewed mainstreaming activities of AICHR and reaffirmed the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration.
The ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue 2022 was attended by the AICHR representatives and two senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ASEAN Member States. During the meeting, U Kyaw Thu Nyein, Deputy Director-General from International Organizations and Economic Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr. Khine Khine Win,  Deputy Director-General from Myanmar National Human Rights Commission addressed country briefing on matters relating to Human Rights mechanism operating in the country and its functions, signing and ratification of International Human Rights Treaties, involvement in the UPR circles and implementation of its recommendations and activities of National Human Rights Commission.
At the meetings, representative from Myanmar discussed establishment of a Task Force to develop a Regional Framework for an Effective Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in ASEAN Member States which is implementing by AICHR-Myanmar and updated recent developments of Myanmar including release of prisoners.

The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Special Meeting (2/2022) was chaired by H.E. Keo Remy, Representative of Cambodia to AICHR and attended by the AICHR representatives from ASEAN Member States, AICHR Alternates, AICHR Assistants and representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat. The Meeting exchanged views on the matters pertaining to recent developments in the region, AICHR’s Five-Year Work Plan (2021-2025), Concept Notes and developments of Priority Programme/Activities of AICHR, external relations and allocation of AICHR Fund.
Myanmar Delegation led by U Zaw Zaw Soe, Deputy Director-General, ASEAN Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Special Meeting (2/2022) and its related Meetings, namely 10th Anniversary of the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration (AHRD) and ASEAN Human Rights Dialogue 2022 which were held on 15-19 November 2022 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. <!–
