ASEAN-Vienna Committee’s Chair H.E U Min Thein, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations in Vienna delivers Opening Remarks at the Celebration of 55th ASEAN Day Event(2 September 2022)

On behalf of the Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV), Mr. Jean-Luc Lemahieu, Director of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs, also gave remarks at the event. In addition, Permanent Missions of ASEAN countries in Vienna presented ASEAN national costumes show as well as served the guests with their traditional cuisines.
The ASEAN-Vienna Committee is composed of the Embassies and Permanent Mission of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and the Permanent Mission of Singapore. The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Myanmar is serving the current chairmanship of ASEAN-Vienna Committee for 6 months from July to December 2022.
The current ASEAN-Vienna Committee’s Chair U Min Thein, Myanmar Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations delivered opening remarks at the 55th ASEAN Day held at the Vienna International Centre on 2 September 2022.
Also present at the event were representatives and officials from the Office of the Director-General (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), a representative of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria, Permanent Representatives and their spouses as well as representatives from the Permanent Missions based in Vienna, totaling more than 200 guests.
