THE MONGOLIAN NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR UNESCO HELD ITS 2022 ANNUAL REVIEW MEETING

The Mongolian National Commission (MNC) for UNESCO held its 2022 annual review meeting on January 13, 2022.The annual review meeting was also briefed by Mr. Boldsaikhan Sambuu, Secretary-General of the MNC for UNESCO, on the 2022 activity report and the national commission members exchanged views on focusing the implementation of more result-oriented and effective projects in 2023, and finalized the draft plan for the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO for the year 2023.In her opening remarks, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh remarked that the cooperation between Mongolia and UNESCO had reached a new milestone, bringing substantial results within the past year.Moreover, she noted that the visit paid by Director-General of UNESCO Ms. Audrey Azoulay to Mongolia within the framework of the 60th anniversary of Mongolia’s membership to the UNESCO, had played an important role not only in advancing the relations between Mongolia and UNESCO, but also in enhancing Mongolia’s involvement and contribution to the UNESCO as well. The Foreign Minister had also exchanged views with the National Commission members from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Labor and Social Protections, Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, the Academy of Sciences, MONTSAME news agency and Mongolian National Library on implementing programs and projects that are optimal and have a direct impact and outreach to the public, improve transparency and effectiveness and promote cooperation and relations within the one-window foreign policy framework.Foreign Minister Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh urged further the relevant ministries and partner organizations to foster and develop cohesive cooperation, to improve coordination among the national committees of the MNC, to increase Mongolia’s involvement within the UNESCO’s conventions and inter-governmental committee activities, to promote Mongolia through UNESCO and to pay special attention to the submission for registration of historical, cultural, natural landmarks and historical documents to the UNESCO.
