FOREIGN MINISTER BATTSETSEG BATMUNKH MET THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia

“Gangwon-2024” Winter Olympics are being held from 19 January to 01 February 2024, and Mongolia is participating with the largest number of 12 athletes for the first time.H.E. Ms. Battsetseg Batmunkh, Foreign Minister and Head of Mongolian team to the “Gangwon-2024” Youth Winter Olympics, met Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, on 19 January 2023, and exchanged views on enhancing further cooperation as well as improving youth sports education.During the meeting, the Minister expressed her eagerness to host the Asian Olympic Games and the Youth Summer Olympics in her own country, and the President favorably received the proposal.The Minister also discussed sports development, cooperation and women’s leadership issues with Ms. Patama Leeswadtrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice President of the World Badminton Federation. Additionally, the Minister extended an invitation to Ms. Patama Leeswadtrakul to attend the World Women’s Forum, scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar in August, 2024.
