The new Ambassador of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, presented the copies of the accreditation letters to the Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu

September 6, 2021, Chișinău – The new Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, presented copies of the letters of accreditation to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Nicu Popescu. During the discussion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu highlighted the strategic nature of the relationship with the European Union and reviewed the main short and medium term objectives in promoting the European path of the Republic of Moldova, including the Eastern Partnership.

The official expressed the certainty that the Chișinău authorities will take full advantage of opportunities in such areas as economy, digitalization, infrastructure, health and environment.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy also appreciated the role of European partners in supporting the implementation of the Association Agreement, the generous assistance provided by the European Union and the new perspectives it opens to strengthen internal reforms and increase the prosperity of the country’s citizens.

At the end of the meeting, Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu congratulated the new head of the EU Delegation for his appointment and wished him success in exercising his mandate in the Republic of Moldova to develop partnership relations with the European Union.
