September 6, 2021, Chișinău – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu received copies of the letters of accreditation of the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova, Katarina Fried.
During the meeting at the Foreign Ministry, officials discussed the current state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Diplomats called for the intensification of political dialogue, the expansion of sectoral cooperation, the full use of investment opportunities and the implementation of official development assistance projects funded by Sweden in support of the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
An exchange of views on current issues on the OSCE agenda was also held, from the perspective of Sweden holding the presidency of the organization.
Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu expressed full gratitude to the Swedish side for the consistency and solidarity shown both bilaterally and on multilateral platforms, regarding the efforts undertaken by Chișinău, including the ones in the 5 + 2 negotiations format, aiming at a lasting solution to the conflict on the left bank of the Dniester.
At the same time, the Moldovan official assured the Swedish diplomat of the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in fulfilling the mandate, expressing confidence that during it the relations of the Republic of Moldova with the Kingdom of Sweden will continue to develop in an ascending way.
