At the invitation of the President of India, HE the Rt Hon David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, is to pay a State Visit to India from February 22 to March 2, 2014.
This will be the first visit by a Canadian Governor General since 1998; this visit follows the successful State Visit of Prime Minister Stephen Harper in November 2012.
During this visit, on February 24, Governor General Johnston will hold discussions with the President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister. External Affairs Minister will also call upon the visiting dignitary.
HE Governor General Johnston is accompanied by his wife, HE Mme Sharon Johnston on this State Visit. The delegation is likely to include representatives from Government, business and academia.
The visiting dignitary will also interact with Indian and Canadian businesses, and with Indian innovators. The delegation is expected to visit Agra, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
