His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain will be on a State Visit to India from October 24-27, 2012. He will be in Mumbai and Delhi during the course of his visit.
While in Delhi, His Majesty the King of Spain will be accorded a ceremonial welcome on October 26, 2012. He will call on the Hon’ble President of India, who will host a State Banquet in his honour. Delegation level talks are expected to take place between the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the King of Spain. The King will be accompanied by a high level Ministerial, official and business delegation from Spain.
India-Spain bilateral trade in the year 2011 was close to US $ 5 billion, which represents a growth of almost 18% over 2010. Spanish investment in India is over US $ 1.15 billion. India’s total investment in Spain is valued around Euro 605 million. Mutually beneficial opportunities for investments by Spanish companies in India exist in a number of sectors such as infrastructure, transport, energy, amongst others.
The Royal family of Spain has a strong and abiding interest in India. The visit of His Majesty is expected to carry forward the process of high-level interaction and deepen the relations between the two countries.
