Official visit of the King and Queen of Bhutan, January 6-10, 2014

The King and Queen of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Her Majesty Jetsun Pema, will pay an official Visit to India from 6-10 January 2014. The delegation of the King of Bhutan includes the Foreign Minister, Home Minister and Economic Affairs Minister.

His Majesty the King of Bhutan has been invited by the President of India and will be first foreign Head of State to be invited to stay at the renovated Dwarka suite in the Rashtrapati Bhawan, after about two decades.

While in India, the King of Bhutan will meet with the President of India. The Vice President of India, the Prime Minister, Chairperson of the UPA, Finance Minister, External Affairs Minister, Home Minister, and Leader of the Opposition, National Security Advisor and Foreign Secretary will be calling on the King of Bhutan.

The unique relations between India and Bhutan are characterized by close friendship, deep understanding and mutual trust. The visit of the King of Bhutan will contribute to further strengthening and expanding the close bilateral relations between our two countries.
