Hon’ble External Affairs Minister Shri Salman Khurshid is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom from March 12-14, 2014.
Today on March 14, External Affairs Minister attended the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group Meeting at the Commonwealth Secretariat.
On March 13, he met the UK Foreign Secretary and held consultations on a wide range of bilateral issues including progress made on decisions taken at previous high level political contacts. The situation in India’s neighbourhood, Middle-East/West Asia and Europe was also discussed. The two sides noted that frank exchange of views has helped promote better understanding of each other’s positions towards the shared goal of obtaining peace, security and stability in the region and beyond. Earlier in the day, Shri Salman Khurshid visited the British Parliament and held interaction with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on India-UK relations and ways to further strengthen bilateral links.
On March 12, he addressed a gathering of students on “Challenges of Democracy in India”, at the invitation of South Asia Institute, SOAS, University of London on March 12.
Earlier this week, senior officials of both sides had held talks on multilateral issues, including reform of the UN Security Council, UN Peacekeeping and Post-2015 Development Agenda and developments in West Asia, as part of their ongoing engagement on topics of mutual interest.
