India completes first phase of modernization of Rajiv Gandhi Art and Production School, Mongolia.

The Government of India completed the first phase of the upgradation and modernization of the Rajiv Gandhi Art and Production School (RGAPS) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 17 February, 2014 at a cost of Rs.4.7 crores.

The first phase of the project was formally handed over to the Mongolian side at a ceremony in Ulaanbaatar attended by H.E. Mr. Ya. Sanjmyatav, Minister of Labour, Mongolia and Mr. Sutanu Behuria, Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industry, India. This work has been funded by the Ministry of External Affairs under a Grant Agreement signed in October 2013 between the Governments of India and Mongolia.

The Rajiv Gandhi Art and Production School, Ulaanbaatar is an important symbol of India-Mongolia cooperation. It was set up under an Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation in 1992, to provide training to Mongolian students in different vocational disciplines. RGAPS was formally inaugurated in 1996.

The second phase of the modernization project of RGAPS will commence shortly.
