Consultations at the Foreign Office of India and Canada( FOC)

Consultations between the India-Canada Foreign Office( FOC) took place in Ottawa on April 11, 2023. The respective delegations were led by Mr. David Morrison, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs at Global Affairs Canada, and Shri Saurabh Kumar, Secretary( East) of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The chance was taken by both parties to discuss the ongoing bilateral cooperation in various fields. They decided to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, energy, education, consular issues, counterterrorism, and streamline mobility while also boosting commercial ties.

Regular communication and bilateral mechanism meetings, as well as upcoming Ministerial visits that would help broaden the bilateral agenda, were welcomed.

Additionally, both sides talked about current regional issues like cooperation in multilateral organizations and the Indo-Pacific region.

Canada endorsed India’s’s leadership in the context of the ongoing G20 presidency. To ensure the success of G20, both parties will cooperate.

The conversations were insightful and fruitful. On a mutually convenient date, the following FOC will take place in India.
