Today the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and the Republic of Cabo Verde established diplomatic relations with the signing of a Joint Communiqué at the United Nations Headquarters, New York.



The Joint Communiqué was signed by Her Excellency Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Permanent Representative of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana to the United Nations, and His Excellency Júlio César Freire de Morais, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cabo Verde to the United Nations. Guyana and Cabo Verde have agreed to join efforts to develop bonds of friendship and cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the countries and peoples. Cabo Verde – a former Portuguese colony, is a West African archipelago comprising 10 islands off the western coast of the African continent.
