The Honourable Hugh Todd, Minister…

The Honourable Hugh Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today presented the exequatur to Mrs. Gale Miller-Garnett, appointing her as the first Honorary Consul for Belize in Guyana. The instrument authorizes Mrs. Miller- Garnett to exercise the duties of the office in Guyana, on behalf of the Government of Belize.

Mrs. Miller-Garnett has served for over 20 years in the public and private sector in Belize and internationally. She is a former Senior Career Public Officer in the Belize Public Service and currently serves as Belize’s country representative and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE).

Minister Todd welcomed the newly appointed Honorary Consul and took the opportunity to reaffirm Guyana’s commitment to strengthening relations with Belize.

The establishment of an Honorary Consulate in Guyana is an important step, which will assist in the facilitation and administration of consular services for Belizean diaspora. In addition, the Consulate will also provide a direct interface for Guyanese private and public sector agencies that wish to conduct business with the Belizean Government and the private sector.
