Special meeting of CARIFORUM Council of Ministers

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated in a Special meeting of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) Council of Ministers which was held virtually on August 4, 2021.

This Special Session of the Council was held to review and discuss proposals with respect to the European Union’s Multi-Annual Indicative Programme for the Caribbean and update on the implementation of the CARIFORUM-EU and the CARIFORUM-UK Economic Partnership Agreements. The meeting concluded with Ministers agreeing to a work programme and schedule of activities for the second half of 2021.

CARIFORUM is a creation of the Organization of the African, Caribbean and the Pacific States (OACPS). CARIFORUM and the OACPS construct has been the primary mechanism through which states of the Caribbean have been cooperating and collaborating with the European Union (EU)/European Commission (EC). The Council of Ministers is the highest decision-making body of the Caribbean Forum.

Minister Todd was accompanied by Ambassador George Talbot, Guyana’s Ambassador to CARICOM; Ms. Bevon Mc Donald, Senior Foreign Service Officer I; Ms. Sharmayne Balram, Foreign Service Officer III; and Ms. Diana Arjune, Foreign Service Officer II.
