Earlier today, the Multi-Agency Coordinating Committee for Addressing the Influx of Migrants from Venezuela into Guyana met to continue its coordination effort between the Government agencies and international partners to give attention to the current migrant situation.
During the meeting chaired by the Honourable Gail Teixeira, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, representatives from Government Ministries, Agencies, and United Nations agencies examined the ongoing efforts to register and assist migrants, among other related matters.
Minister Teixeira shared an overview of Govermnment’s Policy Direction to address the Influx of Migrants from Venezuela into Guyana, while other local and international partners provided updates on their progress on various humanitarian efforts undertaken and upcoming.
The Multi-Agency Committee meets on a monthly basis to assess Government’s response to the situation.
