His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali and a high-level cabinet team met with two visiting US Government officials today at State House.



Joseph Salazar, Special Advisor for the Western Hemisphere from the Office of Vice President, Kamala Harris; and Michael Taylor, Deputy Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Office of Caribbean Affairs were accompanied by the Ambassador of the United States to Guyana, HE Sarah-Ann Lynch; Deputy Chief of Mission, Adrienne Galanek and Chief of the Political and Economic Department of the US Embassy, Brian Hall. The meeting included discussions on food, energy and climate security and Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy. Discussions also focused on the Government’s commitment to democracy and strengthening bilateral relations between Guyana and the United States of America. Vice President, the Honourable Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo; Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) the Honourable Mark Phillips; Minister of Health, the Honourable Dr. Frank Anthony; Minister of Public Works, the Honourable Juan Edghill; Minister of Housing and Water, the Honourable Collin Croal; Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Honourable Oneidge Walrond; Minister of Amerindian Affairs; the Honourable Pauline Sukhai; the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, the Honourable Susan Rodrigues; Foreign Secretary, Robert Persaud and Director of Presidential Affairs, Mrs. Marcia Nadir-Sharma we’re also at the meeting. Salazar and Taylor are expected to meet again with Government officials, business leaders and key stakeholders to discuss topics of mutual interest including the US-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030 (PACC 2030).
