Guyana & Jamaica engage in bilateral discussions at COP26

President Dr Irfaan Ali has engaged the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness and his team in bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the ongoing 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland.

Both leaders recognised the collaboration opportunities available at the government and private sector levels and agreed to intensify their efforts.

President Ali said that the first step should be to reduce the bureaucracy and engage in small pilot projects that can eventually be expanded into larger ones. The two CARICOM leaders also discussed opportunities in the extractive industry, the financial sector, tourism, health, agriculture especially food security, shipping and other transportation logistics.
