Foreign Minister meets with new Ambassador of Spain



The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Fernando Nogales Alvarez, Non-Resident Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to Guyana.

During the meeting, Minister Todd and Ambassador Alvarez shared views on several areas of concern at the regional and multilateral level, such as COVID-19 and climate change. Further, they also underscored the mutual commitment of Guyana and Spain to the principles of democracy and human rights.

In concluding, Minister Todd and Ambassador Alvarez reiterated commitment to enhanced bilateral relations and cooperation between Guyana and Spain.

Guyana and Spain established diplomatic relations on October 12, 1979.
