Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to attend the EU-Jordan Association Council (the Dead Sea, 02.06.2022)

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will travel tomorrow, June 2 2022 to Jordan (the Dead Sea), to participate in the 14th EU-Jordan Association Council.
On the part of the EU member states, in addition to the Greek Foreign Minister, the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, Ireland, Simon Coveney, and Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, are expected to participate in the Association Council.
The Plenary Session agenda (10:25 – 11:30) will be devoted to discussing EU-Jordan relations, the implementation of the EU-Jordan Association Agreement, as well as the adoption of the new EU-Jordan Partnership Priorities.
Following the conclusion of the Association Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs together with the EU HR/VP, Josep Borrell, the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, and the above mentioned three EU Foreign Ministers will attend a formal audience to be held by H.M. the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, at approximately 12:00.
Lastly, the Minister will participate in a working lunch hosted by the Jordanian Foreign Minister for the above-mentioned EU senior officials and Foreign Ministers at 13:30.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Jordan, an important partner of the EU and our country in the Middle East, in May 2021. The Foreign Ministers of Greece and Jordan last met in November 2021 on the margins of the “Manama Dialogue” Forum (Bahrain).
It should be mentioned that the 5th Joint Interministerial Committee between Greece and Jordan is scheduled to take place in Athens on 5-6 July 2022.
