Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis’ meeting with Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk (Athens, 25.10.2021)

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, had a meeting today with Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk. The meeting took place in an extremely friendly atmosphere and the discussion focused, inter alia, on the European perspective of the Western Balkans, regional developments, the rule of law, as well as the climate and energy crisis (in particular the “Fit for 55” package).

Furthermore, regarding the immigration issue, the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the points of convergence between the two countries, while praising the role of FRONTEX, which is based in Warsaw.

The bilateral relations of the countries in the economic and cultural field, but also in the field of tourism were also examined, with Greece being the top destination for Polish visitors. Mr. Varvitsiotis warmly thanked the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister for his country’s immediate response in addressing the devastating fires during the summer.
